Fund-A-Need

Every dollar we raise helps our most valued resource, our children. At the Star Dancing Gala we will be raising funds to enhance and sustain our existing programs, which serve more than 2300 children per week. As a result of your past support, in the last year, the Youth Foundation programs have grown and achieved impressive results:

  • Students participating in our early childhood programs are arriving to school prepared and ready to learn.
  • Participants in the elementary & middle school PwrHrs after school programs are showing improvements in their grades and school attendance, are less likely to have behavioral problems in school, have greater parent involvement in and out of school, and are making significant gains in their reading and math skills.
  • Participants across all of the programs are increasing their physical activity on average by 200% each week by being involved in the Youth Foundation out-of-school time programs.
  • High school mentors are gaining skills in leadership and dedicate an average of 160 hours each year to volunteer and give back to their community.
  • Our Guardian Scholars are former foster youth who have overcome significant challenges. Through a full-ride scholarship we have achieved a high graduation rate among scholars of 76% (nearly double the national average of graduation rates among the general population).

Your support will afford the following:

$10,500 funds fifteen years of supports and opportunities for one child in Youth Foundation programs, starting in pre-school and following through high school graduation

$7,200 funds a Guardian Scholar for One Year Guardian Scholars come from very challenging backgrounds. With your help, statistics change and students become contributing members of society. Your investment is matched with federal and institutional funds, maximizing your investment.

$4,800 funds Annual Wages for a PwrHrs Certified Educator for a school year PwrHrs is a win-win, helping youth become academically successful while paying educators who often have second jobs to meet their financial obligations in our resort community.

$1,600 funds workshops for DREAM First, our pre-collegiate program for students from seventh grade to 12th grade who will be the first in their family to attend college.

$660 will fund a year of building self-confidence, mentorship, a healthy self-image and healthy habits through Girl PowHER. Through a holistic approach that includes fitness, teamwork, managing stress, academic help and mentoring, adolescent girls meet and their challenges and build their strengths.

$240 funds one student’s participation in PwrHrs Summer. Many of us think of summer as a time for camp and recreation and all kinds of fun programs, but it's a wasteland for many low-income children. There's no other time of year where inequality is greater than the summer, and it has a huge impact on the achievement gap.

$75 funds family membership dues to all Youth Foundation PwrHrs programs.
